The Mitsubishi A6M “Zero” is a carrier-based fighter that was operated by the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) from 1940 to 1945.

When it was introduced, the Zero was considered one of the most capable carrier-based fighters, combining excellent manoeuvrability, high airspeed, strong firepower and very long range.

This Zero is located off the former Vila Airfield, Kolombangara Island, Solomon Islands. The airfield operated from 1942 to 1943, with the Zero likely being lost during that time.
