This American PBY Cataline flying boat is located near Tulagi, Solomon Islands.

It was lost in 1943, hitting either a can buoy or small boat (accounts differ) on landing, causing it to sink in 34 metres of water. The damage to the nose is evident in the model.

The PBY Catalina was one of the most widely used seaplanes in World War 2. It had a varied role that included antisubmarine warfare, patrol bombing, convoy escort, search and rescue missions.
